It was reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that as of 2020, there were 618 hospice providers in Los Angeles County. Over the past decade, the county’s hospices have multiplied six-fold, and they now account for more than half of the estimated 1,200 Medicare-approved providers in California.
The San Gabriel Valley to the San Fernando Valley has had an explosion of hospice providers, and now boasts one of the highest concentrations of hospices in the country. As of now, there is no other area in the United States that has more hospices than Los Angeles County.
